Treatment Assistant at HVB Almen
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
The Social Administration in the City of Stockholm has an overarching and coordinating role for social services' individual and family care and the area of disabilities. Here, we create good conditions to meet residents in need of social services support. In close collaboration with the district administrations, we contribute to a modern, digital, legally secure, equal, and knowledge-based social service, and we have a strong focus on development. Within the administration, a wide range of support measures are offered to the city's residents, and the offerings change based on the needs of Stockholmers and the wishes of the district administrations. The work often takes place in close cooperation with other authorities, civil society, and the business community. The Social Administration is also responsible for the city's serving and tobacco licenses and conducts supervision.
Welcome to us!
Do you want to help create a daily life that makes a real difference for young people? At HVB Almen, change happens in daily work – in conversations, activities, and in a safe structure.
Here you have the opportunity to combine treatment work with relationship building and practical everyday support.
The City of Stockholm's HVB Almen opened in September 2025 and is located in Norra Djurgården. The facility offers eight places for boys aged 13–15 who are placed according to SoL (Social Services Act) or LVU (Law with Special Provisions on the Care of Young People).
The target group is boys with emerging substance abuse, emerging criminal behavior, non-aggressive norm-breaking behavior, acting-out behavior, other socially norm-breaking or destructive behavior, care deficiencies, and other psychosocial issues.
The operation is designed in accordance with the government's direction for HVB and corresponds to the target group that will be covered by the general homes in the future.
The workgroup consists of social workers, treatment assistants at night, administrative assistants, unit managers, and group leaders.
Your Role
As a need-based treatment assistant at HVB Almen, you are a central part of the young people's daily lives and work closely with them to create safety, stability, and opportunities for change. The foundation of your work is relationship building – by building trust, you create conditions for development.
You hold treatment conversations and work motivationally based on the young person's individual needs, while also contributing to creating structure in daily life through support in school, routines, leisure, and relationships.
You actively participate in everyday activities such as cooking, cleaning, exercise, homework help, and leisure activities, where the young people receive support to develop skills and strengthen their self-esteem.
Our Work Model
Work at HVB Almen is based on a clear treatment structure. Relationship building is always the foundation, where trust between staff and young people creates conditions for change. With a milieu therapeutic approach, we use everyday life as an active part of the treatment.
The treatment work is CBT-oriented, where we focus on understanding and changing thought patterns and behaviors. To increase the young people's motivation and participation, we use MI (motivational interviewing) as a conversation model. The entire operation is permeated by TMO (trauma-informed care), where we always meet the young people with knowledge about trauma, safety, and stability.
The City of Stockholm's HVB homes operate on a rolling schedule with shifts during days, evenings, nights, and weekends. There is a need for substitutes for all types of shifts, sometimes at short notice and sometimes with a bit more advance notice.
Your Competence and Experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- ongoing education to become a social worker
- interest in working with young people
- good knowledge of Swedish both spoken and written
It is an advantage if you have:
- At least 1 year of experience working with young people with social issues and challenging behavior
- experience in HVB homes or other activities that the employer assesses as equivalent
- experience in treatment work, family treatment, or work with substance abuse
- knowledge of low-affect responses
- knowledge of neuropsychiatry
- knowledge of milieu therapy
- knowledge of re-PULSE
The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
